Hormone imbalances cause common complaints such as chronic fatigue & stress, adrenal fatigue, thyroid issues, low libido, migraines, insomnia, allergies, cycle irregularities, PMS, fibromyalgia symptoms, autoimmune conditions, chronic vaginal infections, and/or interstitial cystitis.  Possible imbalances that need to be corrected include adrenals, thyroid, and/or female/male hormones.

Infertility:

"God blessed us right before Christmas with our first positive pregnancy test.  We had our first ultrasound at 9 weeks, and when I heard the heartbeat, my heart melted.  It was real.  I felt blessed and so thankful.  I credit Dr. Lee's knowledge and acupuncture as part of our success.  She worked with me to establish a healthy diet, eliminating food allergies, and recommended supplements to create a body capable of conceiving." ~ Nicole ~

Infertility typically involves many possible factors, even if you have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility.  Areas that should be addressed are nutrition, adrenal & thyroid function, hormone balance, stress management, and possibly endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and/or polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Appointment length and frequency: The first visit is up to 1 hour and 15 minutes, and return visits are 45 minutes, scheduled every 3 weeks until pregnancy occurs as this frequency allows acupuncture to rotate through all parts of your cycle including follicular and luteal phases of your cycle if you have close to a 28 day cycle.  In the beginning, acupuncture can be done anywhere in your cycle as your whole cycle is geared for baby-making:
-
Acupuncture during the period helps the uterus to shed the lining completely to prepare for a new cycle
- Acupuncture during the first half of the cycle promotes follicle/egg growth and ovulation, and supports the growth of the uterine lining for implantation later on
- Acupuncture around ovulation helps the release of the egg from the ovary for sperm to fertilize it
- Acupuncture during the second half of your cycle supports the fallopian tubes to help the fertilized egg travel towards the uterus, thicken the uterine lining even more, and the fertilized egg to implant to the uterine lining
Thus, acupuncture is beneficial throughout all parts of your menstrual cycle for fertility.  Once we get to know your cycle better, we may look at targeting specific areas that may need extra support.  Follow-up sessions continue to optimize fertility by providing techniques to increase blood & circulation to reproductive organs, feng shui techniques to bring a baby into your home, and possible fertility mindset blocks, toxicity assessments and fertility charting basics if indicated.  If you are doing this in conjunction with IUI or IVF, acupuncture sessions are recommended prior to starting a cycle, once a week when the cycle starts, within 24-48 hours before and after IVF or as close to IUI as possible, and optional around implantation (3-5 days after transfer).  Both partners benefit from acupuncture if male infertility factors are involved.  Reference research studies demonstrating effectiveness of combining acupuncture with IUI or IVF (click and scroll to bottom of page).

How long it takes: Since hormones typically take 3-6 months to balance, this is the average time it takes to get pregnant naturally.  If you are not ovulating, have PCOS, or diminished ovarian reserve, it may take up to a year.  Progress varies depending on how you apply your plan.

Miscarriage Prevention and/or Pregnancy Support:
“I'm extremely grateful to Dr. Lee.  After suffering through 4 miscarriages, my doctor suggested that I try acupuncture.  Dr. Lee helped me throughout my pregnancy, and I was thrilled and thankful to give birth to a happy and healthy little girl!”      ~ Pam ~

Miscarriage also typically involves many possible factors, and testing is rarely done unless there are repeated ones.  Areas that should be addressed are nutrition, adrenal & thyroid function, hormone balance, stress management, and possibly uterine lining, optimizing progesterone levels, preventing genetic defects, balancing vaginal flora, immunologic factors, lifestyle factors, PCOS, etc.  Acupuncture during the first trimester is highly recommended for factors that can be affected (genetic or structural defects cannot be changed by acupuncture if they are already present, but genetic defects can be prevented in the future through specific nutrition).  During pregnancy, acupuncture can help with physical symptoms such as nausea, acid reflux, headaches, sinus issues, fatigue, insomnia, back pain, etc.; especially since many medications are recommended to be avoided during pregnancy.  Acupuncture can help improve blood flow for varicose veins and swelling that may occur at later stages in pregnancy.  Acupuncture can also be beneficial in supporting and preparing the body for labor.

Appointment length and frequency: The first visit is up to 1 hour and 15 minutes, and return visits are 45 minutes, scheduled once a month until pregnancy occurs, or more frequently if there are also issues getting pregnant.  Once pregnant, acupuncture sessions are recommended every 1-2 weeks during the first trimester.  It is optional to continue acupuncture sessions monthly throughout the pregnancy, or more frequently if there are issues during pregnancy.

Migraine, Headaches, Atypical Migraines:
“Ann provides a sound and flexible plan to alleviate or eliminate the migraines I have suffered from for decades.  I have
not had to fill my prescription for migraines for a year since coming to the clinic." ~ Patty ~

Headaches or migraines typically involve many possible factors that are unique to each person based on genetics and environmental conditions.  Areas that may be addressed are food sensitivities, adrenal & thyroid function, hormone balance, past injuries or structural misalignments, and stress management.

As a human survival mechanism, each of us is susceptible to the migraine mechanism that is triggered from the hypothalamus.  Genetic factors can make some have a lower threshold for triggering this mechanism than others.  In addition, the migraine mechanism can manifest differently in each person, ranging from the classical migraine symptoms to atypical symptoms such as sinus issues, dizziness episodes, neck pain, stroke-like symptoms, abdominal pain, whole body migrating nerve pain, etc.  A comprehensive approach is required for long-term management.

Optimize Immune System:

“I was diagnosed with Lyme, Bartonella, and Babesia.  I lacked mental clarity, had depression, anxiety, insomnia, and a lot of fear.  I was exhausted.  I did nothing and I had much pain.  My energy level is slowly coming back.  My mood swings and being miserable are decreasing greatly.  I am still recovering and need much rest.  To follow this path, one may have to change daily habits and lifestyle choices.”

~ Andrea ~

A weakened immune system is prone to chronic infections that can span from viruses (Epstein-Barr Virus, Herpes, HPV, Shingles), bacterial (Strep), yeast (Candida), spirochetes (Lyme), and/or cancer.  Common symptoms include extreme fatigue, skin eruptions, brain fog, rotating pain and/or nerve issues, night sweats, food sensitivities, Bell’s Palsy, autoimmune conditions such as Hashimoto's, Graves, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Sjogren's, Celiac, Ezcema, Psoriasis, Multiple Sclerosis, Scleroderma, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Vasculitis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Alopecia, Connective Tissue Diseases, undiagnosed nonspecific autoimmune condition, etc.  Possible imbalances that need to be corrected include adrenals, thyroid, and/or female/male hormones.  All factors that lower the immune system need to be addressed.

Appointment length and frequency: The first visit is up to 1 hour and 15 minutes, and return visits are 45 minutes, at whatever pace you wish to take that fits your schedule.

Pain Management:

"I started going to Dr. Lee at a time when my fibromyalgia was in full bloom, and my prescribed medication was not lessening the pain.  After 6 weeks, I feel GREAT." ~ Rachel ~

Multiple pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, Lyme, autoimmune, and other conditions benefit from hormone balancing.  Chronic pain even from injury or repetitive use also benefits from a comprehensive, holistic approach.  Hormone imbalances can make one more prone to pain.

Appointment length and frequencyThe first visit is up to 1 hour and 15 minutes, and return visits are 45 minutes, at whatever pace you wish to take that fits your schedule.

How long it takes: It takes at least 3 sessions to notice improvement.  The brain focuses on the area of most pain, so when acupuncture addresses that specific area, it is common for the brain to focus on the next area of pain.  Each acupuncture session will work on each pain area until all are addressed.

Anxiety/Depression:
“I do feel like something opened up for me.  Rather than jumping to make a negative judgement, my mind is now saying
STOP - and then I have a more positive thought.” ~ Jacqueline ~

Possible imbalances that need to be corrected include nutrition, adrenals, thyroid, and/or female/male hormones.  In addition, there are 32 points on your head which, when gently touched, releases anything that doesn't allow you to receive.  These points contain all the limiting thoughts, ideas, beliefs, emotions, and considerations that you have stored over your lifetime since childhood.  Why do you think that we all KNOW what we need to have good relationships, but just can't seem to follow-through or get out of the same patterns?  Some of the points include limiting beliefs about being unkind to yourself, creativity, creating connections with others, money, control, the aging process, hopes & dreams, joy & sadness, and healing.  (Read more about BARS)
